FAQs

What surfaces can you use The Comb on?

The Comb easily removes pine needles, leaves, and other small debris from screens and home. You can even use The Comb to clean up your yard and landscape areas that have become unpleasant.

How does the The Comb Work?

Screens - Once you have attached the The Comb to your pole you will simply start at the middle and work your way towards you. Slowly and smoothly slide the The Comb attached to the pole out to the middle. Once it is out there, you can pull towards you guiding the The Comb over the needles and debris. Do not comb over any holes, or use on screen that is worn and in need of repair. You may have to adjust the angle of the The Comb until you find the best angle. It is best to do all of the middle from your position first then adjust the pole to a shorter length (extendable Poles) and finish the area immediately in front of you. You will then continue working your way around the enclosure until finished.

Home - Use The Comb like a soft rake dragging it smoothly over shingles and tiles to remove debris and snow. Don't let leaves, dirt, and branches sit on top of your home and cause rotting and major repair or replacement costs.

Landscaping - The Comb is more then an ordinary garden rake. The Comb cleans up a yard with less effort and because of it's unique design and adjustable angles, The Comb is great for getting into those hard to reach areas near fencing and bushes where a ordinary rake cant reach.

What is the The Comb made out of?

Polypropylene. A durable plastic that allows for flexibility while maintaining the shape of the The Comb.

Will the The Comb attach to my pole?

Yes, The Comb fits on any pole that has a threaded end or the two button snap attachment. You can buy these types of poles at home improvement stores like Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart and Pinch-A-Penny.

Can you use the The Comb from the outside or the inside of the enclosure?

It really must be used on the outside in order to reduce the risk of damaging your screen. Logically most of the debris found on the outside is there because the screen did it's job and stop the debris from coming into your living area.

Will The Comb hurt my screen?

The Comb was tested by using the standard fiberglass screen. The screen was combed in the same area over 300 times. There was no noticeable damage to the screen at all. At 4 times a year for 20 years you would have combed your screen 80 times. Most likely your screen will need to be replaced due to age by then.

I have the real short needles, how does it work on them?

The sand pine or fir needles usually go almost through the hole of your screen. Within days they get dried and brittle. The The Comb has a dual action side with one side made for the pine needles and the straight edge with notches across the length for short needles. Both sides can be used for other types of debris. You can use the The Comb from the inside or outside with these thin short needles. Just simply and smoothly comb over them and the heads will break off causing the needle to fall through. We recommend you lay  painters plastic down to reduce clean up of needles from the pool or porch area.

How long does it take to clean a screen?

Average 1500 sq. ft. in most conditions is less than one hour.

How often does it have to be done?

Once you have done the initial cleaning, you will perform periodic cleaning based on your own preference. We recommend at least four times a year. This way you can easily clean off your screens before they build up with debris and possibly get damaged from sap.

The Comb even gets out the single stem needles. Just use a circular motion over the needle and The Comb pulls it right out. This can be done from underneath as well as on top.

By using a telescopic pole, you will be able to reach into areas were an ordinary rake can't reach.
